my 2.5gb internet upgrade
2026-08-24
globe upgraded me to 2.5gb fiber for what i used to pay for 1gb.
i can see more than 2,000mbps of throughput, but speed tests on the m5 pro, m3 studio, and wifi 7 phones peak around 1,200mbps up and down. on the old 1gb plan, i barely saw 800.
i don't need one device to hit 2.5gb. i wanted multiple devices to keep hitting 1gb without the whole network feeling slow.
they included a router and two aps wired over fiber. that alone is better than the old wireless ap setup.
the huawei setup is fast but the admin panel is rough. no unified wifi either. the tp-link be700s have the better controls, vpn, and device prioritization, but i still need to work out if that setup is worth the effort.
wired fiber is super badass.
