claude code remote control

2026-07-28

i've been playing with claude code's new remote control this week. it's about remote-controlling existing chats to keep them going — i connect to my own machine and pick up right where i left off.

the flow i use: i create the conversation from claude.ai, pick my machine instead of a repo, and it shows up in claude code on the app. there's one catch that's been bugging me — i can't start a brand new conversation that runs on my mac straight from claude.ai. i have to make it on the web first, and only then does it show up. feels like a bug, and i bet it gets fixed once the features fully roll out. i also still don't see my machines in claude code on the mobile app.

but if you go all in on this, i don't think you really need hermes or opencode anymore — and you definitely don't need a powerful laptop. i'd get a beefy desktop and drive it all remotely from a macbook neo or an ipad, and all my tools, mcp, skills, and connections come with me.

the one gap that still annoys me is localhost work. i can grab screenshots from the app, but i haven't sorted out a clean flow for when the whole workstream depends on localhost testing and development.
